Ἀφροδίτη
Aphrodite (Venus) is the classical Greek goddess of love and beauty. According to Greek oral poet Hesiod, she was born when Uranus was castrated by his son Cronus. Cronus threw his severed genitals into the sea, and from the aphros (sea foam) arose Aphrodite. Aphrodite had no childhood: in every image and each reference she is born adult, nubile, and infinitely desirable. Aphrodite, in many of the late anecdotal myths involving her, is characterized as vain, ill-tempered and easily offended.(more info here [link]) ---- based on a portrait by take a look at her wonderful gallery, it really worths it! Commentsreally awesome ... I like it when you give some background information like that because it gives a deeper meaning to what you draw - and this piece really reflects that she's "infinitely desirable" but also "vain, ill-tempered and easily offended" ... really interesting
